What do you need to know for the exam?

From the book by Nielson, Nielson and Hankin you are expected to study the following sections: 1.1-1.3, 1.6, 2.1-2.5, 4.2-4.4, 5.1, 5.2 and 5.4. The slides serve as a summary of what we find most important, but remember that material not discussed during the lecture may show up in the exam.

The following material is not in the book, but will be on the exam:

• The lecture on Usage Analysis
• Both lectures on program transformation. The second lecture on program transformation covers part of the material of the paper “Trees that grow”.
• Guest lectures. The guest lectures will be on the exam, with some simple knowledge-level questions. The questions about the other parts of the course are more on applying or analysing the material.

The material on attribute grammars will not be on the exam.

Particulars of the assignments you did may also show up in the exam.

This is the exam from 2018, that should give a good impression of what to expect (although some material may seem unfamiliar to you since we dropped it from the course). Note that new material may have been added to the course, which is not yet represented in this exam.

You can skip questions 3, 4, 11 and 12; those topics are not part of the exam this year.
