INFOMMOB (Mobile Interaction)
4th quarter, 2023/2024, timeslot A, 7.5 ECTS
The course will address all kinds of aspects related to the interaction with mobile and wearable devices. Details about the content along with information about the lectures and used literature can be found under LECTURE. Details about the accompanying project can be found under PROJECT for details about the project, as well as the. For the timeplan and deadlines, please refer to SCHEDULE. Organization of this course will be handled via this website, MS Teams, and email (i.e., we will not be using Blackboard).
time and place
- The course takes place in the 4th quarter of the academic year 2023-2024.
- It is scheduled in time slot A (Mondays 09:00-12:45, Tuesdays 17:15-19:00, Wednesdays 09:00-12:45).
- Lectures usually take place on Mondays and Wednesdays, 11:00-13:45 (exceptions may apply).
- Please refer to the schedule for time and location.
formalities
- Attendance to some events (such as project presentations) will be mandatory. Details will be announced in the lecture or on this site.
- There will be no textbook for this course, but we will use conference papers and journal articles instead (see LECTURE).
grading
The final grade for this course will be the weighted average of your grades from the exam and the practical assignment. In particular:
- the exam covering all lectures plus some mandatory reading is weighted 50%

the practicals (a group project) are weighted 50%
CRITERIA FOR PASSING AND 2ND CHANCES (HERKANSING)
In order to pass this course, you have to
- participate in the exam and
score at least a 5.0 (before rounding) - handed in all practical assignments (see milestones and deadlines in the schedule and on the project page)
and score at least a 5.0 (before rounding) - score a total final grade of at least 5.5 (before rounding; see weighting above)
If you pass the course you cannot participate in the retake exam or practicals (university policy).
You can participate in the retakes (herkansing) if and only if you fail the course and
- you participated in the exam and
- handed in all practical assignments and
- your final grade was at least 4.0 (before rounding)
- you can participate in the retake exam. Your retake exam result will replace your original exam grade. Based on the number of students, the retake exam will either be an oral exam or a digital closed book exam.
- you can get a new practical assignment. The concrete topic will be decided individually by the instructor. Your grade from this new assignment will replace your original practicals grade.
objectives
- Students know the basics of state-of-the-art and emerging trends for mobile interaction; mostly mobile devices (smartphones and tablets) plus some wearables (demonstrated by the related exam questions).
- Students can apply basic techniques of mobile interaction to a concrete use case; e.g., a mobile game (demonstrated by the related project work; implementation part).
- Students know the advantages and disadvantages of using different interaction techniques and how to verify and demonstrate them (demonstrated by the related project work; evaluation part).
